Background
In 1996, a talented and entrepreneurial programmer recognized that small-to-medium businesses needed a feature-rich and reliable email platform without the complexities and support requirements found in the few email products available at that time. With a passion to meet the needs of customers and a strong understanding of messaging technology, Alt-N Technologies was created. Within the year, the Windows-based MDaemon email server became a pioneering alternative solution and immediately found an audience within the business community. Over time, additional products were developed to meet customers' needs for enhanced security, Microsoft Outlook integration, and network faxing from the desktop. These products are now included in Alt-N's product portfolio.
Today, the company's flagship product, the Windows-based MDaemon email server, is used by businesses in over 90 countries and 20 languages having deployed millions of mailboxes worldwide. According to the Mail (MX) Survey Results conducted monthly by SecuritySpace.com, the MDaemon Email Server is one of the most widely used mail servers used on the Internet.

Founder and CEO Arvel Hathcock is a recognized expert on email and related security technology and participates on boards with associations, such as the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group (MAAWG), Authentication and Online Trust Association (AOTA), and the Domain Assurance Council (DAC).
